Close Call
The Husband is fine! Really! He is talking to me! —but he was in a car wreck this morning, so we are off on a whirlwind of doctor’s visits and insurance calls so that is why we are out of touch. The little old lady in her plastic rain hat that could barely see over the steering wheel? She is okay too. Little work car we just spent 2 grand fixing? Not so much. The Husband just told me that all that was wrong with her truck was that her turn signal did not work. Maybe we need to get a work truck instead.

Update 7pm:
He has a separated shoulder and gets to take muscle relaxers, hydrocodone, some muscle gel thing, wear a sling, and just generally be cranky. I am sorry he is hurt….but I mostly feel blessed because a thousand different variables and he would be, at the least, in the hospital right now.
He was embarrassed that I brought the camera to the x-ray room, but this is prime blog material.

Ouch!

I told him to stand by his car and look pathetic.

Glad to hear that The Husband is okay. Sorry to hear about the car, though.
I am so glad that everyone is ok!
If you want a vehicle that can go through just about anything, I highly recommend a Volvo. I’ve seen them survive some crazy things.
Oh, I’m pretty sure I got the commenting (and updating) thing fixed on my blog. If you could try and leave a comment to test it out, I’d really appreciate it. It works for me, but then again… it’s my blog…
I never thought that my car could be mistaken for a speed bump, but apparently it was today. “hrmmm…i’ve hit something…let me hit the gas and try to bump over it”
It’s never a good sign when you look out the driver’s side window and see nothing but the grill of a truck.
Next time I’m in a wreck….OUCH!! Take me to the hospital in the ambulance please. I should have gone today but, as with most wrecks, I didn’t start to hurt until 30 minutes after the ambulance was gone.
I guess I have to start looking both ways before AND after I make a turn.
Oh wow, I didn’t realize that the wreck was that bad! I hope the shoulder gets better soon.
Glad no more serious than it was. Dad suggested if you work it right, maybe you can get the much needed paint job for whole car done with the repair.
I feel for you Mr. Huckablog! I’ve had shoulder injuries…they’re a pain in the neck (among other areas)! Good luck on a full (and pain free) recovery soon!!!
As for the wreck…bummer! Though, take it from someone who has had more than 20 wrecks (in a span of less than 10 years)…it could have been a lot worse!!!
We’re glad you’re okay! Let us know if you need anything.
Oh, and I now know why when ShoeShe comes to visit, her car stays parked and she rides with you!
I’m wondering why Shoeshe is STILL ALLOWED to drive!!! Yikes!
HaHa! You guys are too funny!
I haven’t had a wreck in three years!!! I guess that means I should start being extremely cautious as I’m probably due one. Though I’m thinking the last one was good enough to last a lifetime (maybe I’ll post about it at some point). Let’s just say I flipped my car a few times and lived to tell about it. Maybe later I’ll give details on ShoeShe. I just haven’t been up to it of late. In fact, I had a post ready for the 3-year anniversary of my near-fatal-1-car-accident back in December, but couldn’t bring myself to actually post it.
Do you guys think we need a lawyer?
I don’t know about the lawyer thing. As long as you have good insurance (and the other person was also covered) you would probably end up spending more money than necessary on a lawyer. When Joe was hit from behind (hit and run, during rush hour in Wichita), we thought about it, but we also aren’t really the litigious types. We have great auto insurance, and haven’t had to pay a dime yet (even for the physical therapy and other alternative therapy used to help Joe’s neck pain).
Sadly, his neck still bothers him when he’s stressed or works too hard (or drives too much or walks too much or whatever too much). There is no actual evidence of anything wrong with his neck, but he’s still occasionally in pain. Hopefully this is not something that The Husband will have to endure.
I agree with Ang, but then I don’t know every thing about the wreck either. I had two wrecks really close together (neither was my fault) and had no problems getting money for the car, my medical bills, or lost work. The first wreck (were some lady slammed into us from behind) it took less than a week to get paid.
I would wait and see what her insurance offers and then if you feel they are being unfair, contact a lawyer. But that is just me, my family was mad we didn’t get a lawyer for either of my wrecks.
Glad TheHusband is mostly okay, sorry about the car. Is it going to be fixed or is it a total loss?
I agree with Ang and Cat. I’ve had more than 20 wrecks, and I’ve never used an attorney. But, I have State Farm’s top plan, so it includes all the bells and whistles when it comes to injuries, rental cars, dealing with the other person’s insurance, etc. I’ve never really had to lift a finger other than filing the initial claim. They’ve taken care of all the rest. Sure, I pay a bit more than average for my insurance, but it sure is worth it when you need it.
ShoeShe…20 wrecks and you can still get insurance?
(Please don’t egg my house the next time you’re in town!)
Lol. Her house is to the right of mine just so you don’t get confused. We got the rental car today, no problem, so we are going to wait on a lawyer unless something goes wrong. BUT! Today in the mail we got 7!! letters from different attorneys wanting to “represent” us.
Don’t ever pick the lawyer who sends you a letter. Those are what we call “ambulance chasers.” They’re only in it to get a quick buck…not for your best interests.
Oh…and only two of the more than 20 wrecks were my fault. I think I drive around with a target on the back of my car.
