NaBloPoMo, Thou art a cruel and relentless taskmaster.
Alternate title: NaBloPoMe, I did it!
I may have had a couple of lame posts but I did manage to get up SOMETHING every single day. Did I learn anything? Hmm. Yes. It is better to not post when you are sick because no one wants to hear (read about?) you whining, that sometimes the posts you write just to have SOMETHING turn out to be your favorite ones, and that people do not comment as much when there is a new post everyday, even if they do visit the site more often. I am going to go back to a couple of posts I think were skipped over too quickly this week, but will try to continue posting at least 4-5 times a week.
H came over to play and we made period American Indian headpieces from traditional materials like construction paper, polyester, and scotch tape.
H is here representing the Wampanoag tribe at the first Thanksgiving in 1621. Isn’t he cute?

Here is The Son with his interpretation of a Pequot brave in 1636. He is mighty displeased at how his people have been treated. That and he did not want to wear his headband.

New topic, How was your Thanksgiving? I had two, and they were both awesome and totally completely different. One involved a picnic outside, followed by a tractor ride and a swing in the hammock. The other involved china and crystal and the fine film Herbie goes to Monte-Carlo (that part is a lie, the movie was not fine, it blew.). The Son was good for both dinners and still had room for pie. On the way home yesterday The Son and I were talking about Christmas, and I asked him who brings presents on Christmas? His answer? Shoeshe does Mama!
Happy December.

Eh…Thanksgiving was interesting. I served as the family peacemaker and sat with the family members nobody else ever wants to sit with. They smell funny, wear ugly clothes, steal forks and spoons, have ill-fitting false teeth, chew with their mouths open, say things they shouldn’t, and have the IQ of a tree frog. But…alas, they are family.
My family doesn’t do traditional Thanksgiving, though. We had ribs, pork steaks, BBQ shrimp, crawfish, and scallops. We’re strange!!! But that’s good, because if my family were normal, I certainly wouldn’t fit in.
Congratulations on finishing this goal. I know it was difficult to find time to write something every day. I like the little natives.
I posted about my odd little Thanksgiving. Glad you had a good one, and cute boys!
Ummm…I thought it was a traditional Thanksgiving dinner modeled after the original rather than a picnic. Guess it’s all in the interpretation. However, everything else in the posted description was accurate I guess. I really don’t know because I was doing what I love to do exactly TWO times a year…spending the morning cooking for my family (while also trying to simultaneously watch Macy’s parade). If not for the cinnamon green beans, we’d had nothing but starches and proteins on Thanksgiving.
Oh, we did use real plates outside, but I decided to not break out the china since I couldn’t be sure if that was appropros to an original-style Thanksgiving dinner. The 6 dogs served as our indigenous dinner guests and did their part in cleaning up the plates!
It was a blast.
Oh, Grammy….I saw that you left me a voicemail a couple of days ago. I apologize for my non-response, but it only came today.
You are right MMIL it was more of an alfresco dining experience than a picnic. I have some awesome photos to post of it soon!
I think the dining outdoors sounds very nice. What a great idea. It was a beautiful Thanksgiving Day and we spent a good deal of it outside ourselves.
Hmmm, sounds like someone (Shoeshe) is spoiling The Son just a wee bit.
We watched Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade and the X-Man danced to the Sesame Street float (and any other float that had music) then went to MIL’s house where X-Man threw up his sweet potatoes. I then went Black Friday shopping. It was fun, but a little too hectic. Maybe I’m getting old, or maybe I was grumpy due to the lack of sleep, but people were MEAN this year!
Karebear…It’s less like spoiling and more like training! And it’s not my fault that I only really see him on gift-giving occasions (i.e. birthdays, Christmas, other holidays), so he sort of equates me with presents. Oh well, it’s fun to spoil them a little as long as you can give them back to their parents.
And I totally agree! People were downright mean at all the stores I visited on Black Friday. Either that or they had no business being there. Either way, it did not make for an enjoyable thirteen hours of shopping for ShoeShe.
