I have been working on both the pledge and the Lord’s prayer with him, and will try to get the snippets he knows on camera for you. He knows quite a bit…still does not know many of his colors, but he is getting those preacher/senator necessities down. A senator should be color blind anyway.

Last year, when Grandpa and Grammy were in Dallas, we purchased a book on the Pledge of Allegiance for The Son at the Book Depository Museum. He hasn’t been very interested in reading it, and unfortunately now its gone missing.

I’ve practiced saying the pledge with him and showing him how to put his hand over his heart when we are near a flag. Perhaps the idea would have never occurred to me had not I had a particular experience with Hey You when she was around his age.

I’ll never forget going to one of those chain restaurants that served the child’s meal with a toothpick flag sticking in the hamburger. Hey You, upon her dinner’s arrival to the table, stood up in the booth, put her hand over her heart and proceeded to try to say the pledge. We were amazed as we’d had not taught her this.

Cute story.

Point to make: MyGrandSon (aka: TheSon) is a veritable genius and this story is further proof of that. How many two-year-olds in the world know anything about invincible spaghetti-Os or how to “pwedge agence…” to them, and “under God” no less?

Wish there was a video of him in above activity for grandmothers to share and brag over with each other (hint, hint, hint).

Tell The Son that’s just nasty!!! The plain ones are way better (and healthier). Plus, if you add a slice of 2% American cheese when you heat them it gets all melty and yummy. I’m getting hungry for some spaghetti-os just thinking about it. I’ve even made them a bit grown-up by adding some fresh basil and oregano. It’s kinda sad that I’m talking about spaghetti-os. Oh well! I used to eat them for breakfast when I was a kid, and I think that’s pretty weird too!

I love the Huckablazer posts. They’re always so cute…and something straight out of a mid-90s sitcom.

Oh, no The Son ADORES the ones with meatballs. He asks for them for lunch every day, and I limit them to once a week because of the nitrates.

I preferred Franco American before they teamed up with Campbell’s. You can’t get any better than that!!! But, please don’t get the nasty meatball ones. I prefer either plain or with franks.
