Hi. I am Ellie-Mae Huckadog. Or so they tell me.
Hi. These new people I have been staying with have been calling me Ellie-Mae so I am pretty sure that is my name.

We have met before, but you may not recognize me. I used to look more like this.

This new family took me and had all of my tangled and dirty fur cut off. At first I was a little cold, but now I feel so much cleaner and lighter and prettier. Just all around better.

They also took me to the vet. I have a few things wrong with me. That vet guy said I had one of the worst cases of ear mites he had ever seen. The new lady asked three times if people could get those. I think she may be a bit of a hypochondriac.

I also had a nasty respiratory infection and ear infection that was caused from being in a crate too much, but I am taking some medicine and feel much better all ready. That new man says that antibiotics are a family affair this week. I have no idea what that means.

What I do know is that they are really nice to me here. The boy plays with me, and the bigger dog, Katydid is her name, played with me a little bit before they sent her away because of my ear mites. I have been quarantined from other animals you see. The ear mites will be all gone by tomorrow night and then Katydid can come home. I plan on bonding with her then.

Um, can we talk about my new hair? I am not sure I like it. Especially the bow. The lady seems to really like it though. I think that maybe I remind her of someone else, because she keeps saying, “Come here Polly, I mean Ellie.” At least I think that is what she is saying, my ears have been full of bugs and infection so who knows.

I totally love my new collar. That lady’s mom called it Burberry, but then the lady said that Burberry usually costs more than $3.99. They also have lots of soft and cozy beds for me here. I like to dig in this one to make it comfy.

But this is my favorite one. It is the big family nest where we all sleep at night. The lady said that she could not bear to put me back in the crate and I am A-OK with that. Although I heard something about a spider that squicked me out a little.

Some people were wondering how big I am so the lady tried to get some “perspective” by taking pictures of me next to things. Here I am with the boy’s shoe. I said that would not work because the boy could have really big feet.

Here I am next to something everybody recognizes. See? I am pretty little. I am as tall as I am going to get.

But, I am actually much too under weight. That vet guy said I was maln, malnur, malsomething. It means hungry. I have already gained a half a pound since I got here.

Sometimes I feel a little sad. I liked the kids where I came from, and I worry about the other animals that are still there.

But I really like this new family, and I think it is going to work out well. The man says he has to get better to see if he is allergic to me, and then they will make a final decision, but I think he is going to be fine. All in all, I think I am pretty lucky. And that makes me very happy.

See ya later. Love, Ellie-Mae Huckadog.

Ellie is so cute!! I LOVE the bow, BTW.
you are on the ball Ang! You commented before I even finished editing.
Well, I am a perfectionist, ya know
She’s small enough that even H might like her
She is precious!!! I love all the photos, and the story is just adorable. Good post! I approve. And she pretty much looks like an Ellie. You should get/make her a little red sweater or dress, she’d be adorable in red with her gray-ish-black-ish-with-a-little-white-for-good-measure-ish fur.
She is a cutie, I just want to put her in my lap and snuggle with her. She looks about Darcy’s size, is that right or is she a little taller?
If (EDIT) The Husband isn’t allergic to Katy, I am sure he will be fine with Ellie. I don’t think she will shed, she shoudn’t should she?
hey Cat? Darling? Whom you know I love and really do NOT want to stop posting? Did you know I have had to edit out the husband’s name twice this week? The Husband said he will close comments if he feels we are not anonymous so we all have to be really careful okay? I’m so not trying to lecture, but it is important.
Tell The Husband he has had an impact on many of my posts on ShoeShe as well, because I have to edit myself before I post and make sure I’m not using any names that might keep you guys from being anonymous.
By the way…did you like the ever-so-cryptic _SU in my earlier comments?
He has not read it yet, but I am sure he is not going to like it.
Your clock is an hour fast. Just to let you know.
I am just going to stop commenting
No, Cat. You can’t stop commenting. It’s like a sick communication form. I get excited when I see your comments on the Huckablog and on ShoeShe. You just have to get the lingo right. We are Hey You Huckablog, ShoeShe and CaTark. Our families are whatever we choose to call them…some of which are far more cryptic than others.
but I said I do NOT want you to stop posting, I just want you to stop using The Husband’s real name so he does not make me stop comments. How would you feel if I never posted on your site? I would be sad. You do not want me to be sad right?
sorry it is hard to joke in comment form, I wasn’t serious or anything, just being silly. sorry I guess I could have used one of these
. I don’t mean to slip up, I know the ‘lingo’ I mean I may be grammer challenged but I’m not an idiot.
Back to the dog…she just does not realize how lucky she is. Based on family history, both sides, there is no way Ellie-May (I think she probably more resembles a Doodlebug right now) is going anywhere except a better home. I find it hard to believe there is such a place, but it’s possible.
Anyway, in TheHusband’s familial history is a long string of rescued dogs and cats. We brag on having never bought a pet…but we sure have paid through the nose for each and everyone. Take for example, Marlee…the thrown-away, deaf, half-dalmation…we don’t really want to keep her, but we’ve spent at least $1,000 on her between vet bills, spaying, radio fence for stubborn dogs (HA! She speeds across that thing like the Flash!).
So, don’t expect him to kick Ellie-Mae into the cold, cruel winter wind. Besides, I fell in love with her the instant she crawled into my lap, put her head on my shoulder and promptly fell asleep, so she would be welcome here (well, Pappaw keeps shaking his head no but….”anyway!”).
Lucky dog, Ellie Mae….welcome to the rescued-from-certain-death Dog Family!
MMIL is so right. Between the two families and two generations I can quickly total up 8 rescued dogs. In our home we have a long tradition of keeping most of the dogs that come to us for life with only two exceptions in the past 34 years. Of the several we’ve had, only one was purchased. Rescued pups make great pets.
Welcome Ellie!
PS I do hope you hurry along the house breaking to make dog sitting easier.
I’m still struggling with this new name. It doesn’t fit with your past names. I looked over your list again, and one of your ideas was turtledove. Dovey, for short, would be cute. Or, MMIL’s Doodlebug (Doodles for short) would also be cute.
