Ang, I said the same thing regarding the antibiotics. She wanted to get a jump start on them prior to this morning. Now both have a prescription so The Husband gets his full supply and she does too.

Consider this me yelling at you for taking The Husband's antibiotics. You should have gone to the doctor yourself, gotten the strep diagnosis yourself, and gotten your own antibiotics. By taking his, you are robbing him of the opportunity to recover fully. Then the infection could return, and it could spread to everyone. He should take the entire prescribed amount in the time directed by the physician. In other words, get your own antibiotics!!

On the matter of the strange welt, you can, in fact, have an allergic reaction to something that you've never reacted to before. On the other hand, I think the physician may be correct on this one. If it were a true allergic reaction, you wouldn't have just one welt, you would have many, since oral antibiotics course through the entire body, not just the left forearm.

Okay, I'm going to contradict your know-it-all doctors. I had a reaction to penicillen, to which I had NEVER reacted, on Friday. Medicine was administered on Thursday. Nowhere else on body but backs of thighs, red welts, VERY itchy....shot in butt, one per cheeck, close vicinity to thighs which would expain the location of the itch, I think.

So, based on my experience, I really, really do think it's a reaction to the amoxicillen (sorry for supporting your desire to get a jump-start on the strep infection, btw). I don't care WHAT the md said...especially if it's at a open-on-Sunday minor medical place or emergency room.

Although I was still on penicillen, the rash didn't get any worse and I never had another reaction to penicillen again. Of course, cautious doctor 20 years later said, "Nope. Can't give you penicillen, can't risk the chance you'll react. Never take penicillen again, MMiL, and you'll be safe and sound." So, I don't take penicillen anymore. And look, I'm still alive....waddling and kicking with the best of the late-boomers!
