We crate trained Dach, but we did it opposite. My dachshunds sleep with humans and use the crate as an indoor bathroom facility for when it is too rainy, dark, late, cold, hot, snowy (or insert any other word that makes them seem like spoiled brats) to go outside. They will still do their thing outside, but they also use the indoor crate quite frequently (definitely during the day when nobody's home with them).

The Husband popped some Advil went to work. If he is still sick tonight, I will make him go to one of those doc in the box places.

Ellie is the name that seems to be sticking. Anybody know anything about crate training?

If you want name overload, do a google search for Yorkie names. There's a website that has cute dog names listed by breeds (and then sub-categorized by sex).

I'm with Ang. Go to the doctor. Get antibiotics for The Husband. I'm on some now for a sinus infection (which coincidentally also included a sore throat because of the drainage). It's just that icky time of year.

Ellie-Mae or Ellie Mayfly either one are pretty cute, but I still like Junebug. You could call her Junie (I'm having flashbacks to the movie "Benny & Joon," which I adored in the early 90s).

She doesn't so much look like a Tilly to me, though what do I know? I have only dachshunds, and only one of them has a German name (which is apparently a "requirement" that comes along with the breed...who knew!).

I'd go with whatever your family decides. You guys are the ones who are going to be living with her. Although, I might see which one rolls of The Son's tongue the cutest.

I like Ellie May and Junebug. As far as the sickness goes, he will need to go to the Dr. for strep diagnosis, not to mention some antibiotics to keep from getting you and/or The Son sick as well. Strep can be contagious even weeks after the symptoms clear up if not properly treated. I had it a couple of years ago and all I had was a sore throat and it didn't go away. It was so painful I could hardly swallow anything, and it kept me up at night. I think you should take him to the Dr. Some offices will give you a discount if you offer to pay in cash. It's a thought.

What do you guys think of Ellie-Mae? Or Ellie Mayfly? We are getting her groomed this morning, the bath last night did not even touch the smell. We had to keep her in the bathroom.

Oh, and The Husband is SICK! Maybe strep? Maybe a slight cold and he is just being a baby? Low grade fever and one side of his throat hurts. Any doctors out there to help the man with no health insurance?
