There are no words.

How can a child slip through our (society’s) fingers? Nothing funny today; instead we have an article to read. I can’t even be a little funny after this.

    I agree, there are no words to express my disgust that this could happen in the U.S.

    It happens more often than you think. As a child, I lived in an abusive situation for nearly 3 years, and the only reason I got out was because of my very persistent grandmother. It was her and my aunt and uncle that removed me from that situation.

    As a professional, I have a responsibility to report any suspicion of abuse. But I also know that it takes a LOT for the system to remove a child from their home. It’s very sad, and this particular little girl was lucky that her adoptive parents were so open and caring. Most children in her situation would end up in some sort of care facility.
