Mother’s Day Hangover
So how was your Mother’s day? I hope it was filled with fluffy marshmallows and sunshine. Mine was so busy that it took me three days to recover. We went on a riverboat brunch cruise thingy. Going to an elegant dining establishment with a toddler is about as much fun as a date at the laundromat. It is work! The best part was the nap afterwards. Yawn. I love family naps. The Son gave me a lovely handmade card and a cross he painted for my collection. The husband gave me a fence. Did I mention that I got a hot water heater for Valentines Day? Or a paid hospital bill for my birthday? I adore the fact that he is responsible, but the selfish side of me wants jewelry. A lot of it. But we really need a new fence! Why you ask?

Ok, before I receive the full force of anger from Hey You’s devoted reader base, let me clear something up.
The fence is not only her Mother’s Day, but my Father’s Day and Birthday…..I realized this year that there seemed to be a trend of paying bills for her gifts(I’m responsible for making sure bills get paid on time) and me getting fun technogadgets for mine. My goal is to even the score starting now with a clean slate. Forgiving my past transgressions and moving forward.
So, be prepared Hey You, I’ll try to let you know when certain things need to be replaced around the house and when bills are due….and I’ll try to make sure they don’t all land on your birthday
The riverboat cruise was stressful, but I’m glad the son came along regardless. Add to that a 80 year old’s birthday celebration and you have a weekend full of parties and a long recuperative nap at Grammy’s house too.
I failed to mention that I watched this “super boy” climb to the top of the jungle gym at a park in less than a minute last week. I’m seriously concerned about what his physical challenges will be when he is five, because he’s mastering those things now.
I always end up getting things like guitars and video games which ends up being Tark’s in the end. It’s kind of like Homer giving the bowling ball to Marge. So for his birthday he got guitar hero and I , mostly just for fun revenge, took it over. It turned out to be pretty fun. I shouldn’t complain though, this year I got a pretty ring.
Don’t be so hard on the laundry date. Yes, there is work to do, but I know for a fact that every Monday night I have a date with my husband. It’s comforting, in its own way. And then, once it’s all put away, it’s nice to put laundry out of my mind (until next Monday, that is).
[...] how I told you all about the fence I got for Mother’s Day? It was also my/thehusband’s anniversary gift to each other. It is WOOD after all. It will [...]
